Mac OS Audio MIDI Setup UtilityUpdated 7 months ago

If you're having trouble connecting your Fractal Audio product via USB to a computer running Mac OS, creating a new Audio MIDI configuration can eliminate some issues that can cause problems.

Note: Before you perform these steps you should check our generic USB troubleshooting guide

First, disconnect all audio/MIDI devices from the computer except for your Fractal Audio device.

  1. In the Audio MIDI Setup app 🎹 on your Mac, choose Window > Show MIDI Studio.
  2. In the MIDI Studio window, click the Choose MIDI Configuration pop-up menu (it may show Default), then choose New Configuration.
  3. Enter a name for the new configuration, then click OK.
  4. Make sure your Fractal audio product appears in the new configuration.
  5. Launch Fractal-Bot to test the new configuration. Selecting your device in "Step 1" should display three green checks ✅.

NOTE: The Axe-Fx III, FM9, and FM3 should all appear in the Audio Devices window when working properly. The Axe-Fx III and FM9 appear as devices in the MIDI Studio window but the FM3 does not. This is normal. In any case, this exercise can still be useful when troubleshooting FM3 as it can eliminate possible interference from other devices and drivers as a factor.
